What is the quickest way of having your musical pieces patented, if there is a way?

I believe I read one has to submit a written composition of the piece and have a video of it being played? Could the tune be shown played on a simple Casio?!

You can't patent a piece of music - patents protect inventions, not creative works.

To copyright a piece of music, you just need to reduce it to tangible form - write out the chords, record the song, film someone playing it, etc. Any one of those is sufficient.

In the USA, the laws around copyright are such that your case is strengthened if you register your work with the US copyright office. Registration of a work constitutes prima facie evidence. But registration is not necessary.

Only a government issued copyright for works produced are valid. If you don't get a copyright issued by the government, and someone else does you have zero rights legally. If you made money on it and someone else holds the copyright to whatever it is, they can take you to court sue you for reparations, and take every penny you made plus more, for the unauthorized usage of, what they hold the right of ownership to. More than one song writer, has been burned by not having a copyright. Simply producing it, then publishing it somewhere such as Youtube, offers not one bit of legal protection. There is no "quick way," to having you work copyrighted, it has to take whatever time it takes until you have the legal paperwork in hand that says you have it copyrighted.

You don't need to have a video of it being played, you just need to submit a written copy to the copyright office and pay a small fee, i think it's around 35 dollars.

Here is a link to the website where you can get the forms

Copyright is free, instantaneous and automatic from the time your creative work of authorship is recorded in any tangible form. You may optionally put copyright notice on it immediately, alerting people to your claim, and you may optionally register in the US Copyright Office (one work or a collection of works) for $35, using online forms at the site linked below.
