How do you care for a pineapple plant?

I know it sounds like a dumb question, but my mom bought a pineapple plant and she doesn't know how exactly it grows, such as height and what it consists of. She asked the seller, but he didn't know anything about it. The plant looks about 20 inches tall and a little pineapple is already growing.

If anyone has grown any, can you please tell me how it looks in the final stages and what's the best way to care for them....thanks :)

Update:

Thanks Briggs! :)

The Pineapple plant (Ananas comosus) will reach about 5' to 6' when mature. It will develop a thick rough trunk and produce a single fruit at the ternimus. It will get top heavy so you may want to repot it

into something that will stand it upright. Give it as much sunlight as available, keep it warm (it's a tropical plant) and water it from above, pouring water over the leaves and into the cup formed where the leaves join. The fruit will mature in about six months from when it first appears.

I have a pineapple plant inside a large pot. It has grown about three feet or maybe a little taller. It is the second year I have it and it is putting out a bloom this year. In fact a side shoot on the mother plant is also putting out a bloom. Unfortunately, I let freezing weather damage about 1/3 of the leaves. I was ready to throw it out but I noticed the bloom, so I'll see what it does. It is about 18 months old. Next time I'll give it better winter protection. If your plant is putting out a pineapple fruit, it likely won't grow very much taller. There are different varieties, and you seem to have one of the smaller ones. Good luck.

the excellent thing approximately strengthen lighting fixtures over different lighting fixtures is they are designed to mimic the completed spectrum of photograph voltaic. flowers of course desire actual photograph voltaic. attempt to maintain the plant heat, in spite of the undeniable fact that it is going to strengthen in non tropical temperatures. I relatively have one becoming in Victoria and it survives with the aid of our wintry climate outdoors, in a black pot, interior a plastic bag cloche. protection from frost will save it alive, tropicalness will help it thrive. this means warmish, dryish winters, and heat to hotish humid to moist summers.
