Describing Bonds, PLEASE HELP!!?

Describe the following bonds using the success criteria below:

¬ Carbon Dioxide

¬ Potassium Iodide

Success Criteria:

1. Identify if its a covalent or an ionic bond

2.Draw dot and cross diagrams for the compound (You can explain what it looks like to me)

3.Describe the bonding between the ions including:

-numbers of electrons on outer shell

-How many electrons needed to be gained/lost/shared

-The charge on the ions and why they have this charge (in ionic compunds only)

Please help me as i do not have a clue what to do :/
