PETA believes all dogs should be roaming free, not enslaved by the human race..wackos
There's nothing abusive about it. The dogs were bred and trained to do what they love to do.

OH pricey goodness, those dogs were BRED for it! They like it better than some thing else contained in the global. lots of the dogs that come from severe sledding lines wouldnt also be considered as pets because they do no longer adapt nicely in a house. They love the exterior and operating with a sled in the back of them is what they stay for. PETA will disagree yet all of us recognize they're nutcases besides. in accordance to them having a puppy in any respect is animal cruelty..... otherwise i cant imagine an wise canines knowledge human being to imagine that its merciless... to me it should be merciless to deprive them of their interest. now to not teach the dogs that run the iditarod get the finest of care from their human beings and vets.

Sane pet owners and animal lovers don't give a flying rat's petard what PETA thinks of anything. Don't think its cruelty and not really fan since sledding isn't my thing and not a fan of northern breeds. As long as the dog enjoy it and are taken care of properly I really don't care.
PETA picks easy targets. While they HATE the sort of sport event i'm going to be possibly putting my own dog in you can be very sure, you won't see ONE at any Uncle Henry's event, CHD or NALC event. They may be off their rocker, but they have some sense of self preservation.

The dogs used for The Iditarod are doing what is in their genes. I would'nt say it's cruel but different people have different views on this kind of thing.

I come from a small town out in the country and free roaming dogs have become a major safety problem not only for the resident people living there, but other livestock and themselves! In our area unwanted dogs are dropped off out here where we live. These dogs begin to form packs and are starving (problem 1 for dogs). To stay alive they hunt for food, killing livestock. These livestock are some peoples means of living(problem for people) so they shoot the dogs (problem 2 for dogs safety.) The dogs begin to attack small children, run into roads getting hit by vehicles and become extremely aggressive. Releasing all dogs is the worst idea. Dogs were bred to serve humans, with various jobs and are pack animals, therefor love the attention and companionship of people as much as we love it from them, and are happiest when doing a job and succeeding just as people are.

I'm a fan. These are working dogs doing what working dogs love to do. You cannot force a working sled dog to run if he doesn't want to. PeTA is full of crap.
