Can I play a blanket provisional ball?

Let's say I hit a ball, and am not sure its disposition. It's near OOB, near some rough, and near a hazard. I can't see which way it bounced, so can't be sure if it's in any of those areas, or still in play. Is it possible to simply put out a provisional to cover any or all of those, to keep play moving (since there are typically people playing behind me, to avoid having that walk back to the tee while they wait)?

You can always play a provisional ball. In any situation. Now we can get very in depth with this...you wouldn't want to play a provisional if it is a hazard because then you would have already put a ball in play therefor you could not take the regular drop by the water. So you would have to take hitting 3 off the tee rather than hitting 3 from where you dropped. SO I would suggest only hitting the provisional if you believe your ball could be out of bounds. If you find your ball you can go ahead and pick up your provisional and play on. If not, take your penalty and move on playing your provisional.

-A little known fact also for provisionals. Say you bomb a drive 300 yards and you think it may be OB. Then you hit a provisional and top your provisional 20 yards. You wouldnt want to walk 300 yards to see that your ball is OB and walk back to your provisional. So you are allowed to hit your provisional again until you pass your original ball.
