Best dog harness out there?

I have a Jack Russel mix. He is a little chubby, with short legs, and he can very easily pull out of his current harness. He just backs up and pop, he slips out. Does anyone know of an escape proof harness that will keep him secure. Usually on walks it is not problem, but I can't secure him if I need to run inside, or if I want to relax on a patio and have a bite, he pops out. Last time he ran into the restaurant and made a victory lap before I cornered him.

Here is a picture of him, so you get an idea of his proportions.:

Update:

Thanks Ladystang. You were almost helpful. The one I have fits, he can just get out of it because he is a little fat and has short legs.

Update 2:

Grace, that is the type I have for him, and he backs out of it in a flash. It is fine for restraining him while pulling, but when he wants out, he is out.

Bahahha! That's hilarious because I have a Jack Russell as well and that sounds exactly like the kind of mischief my little guy would get into as well. Aren't they funny? I have one like this for my dog and it works just fine. At first when I got it I looked at it and it seemed like a funny fit, so I figured it was a piece of junk, but once I figured it out, it's decent. It seems to lay at sort of a weird spot on his legs, but it doesn't seem to irritate him and I've never had any problems with him slipping out. As long as it's snug fitting, he shouldn't be able to pull back out of it. I've never tried them but I know they make some harnesses that fit like little vests as well...those ones might be harder to get out of. I don't know if you're ever talked to a sales person at a pet store either, but they should be able to suggest something. Most pet stores allow you to bring the dog in, so you can probably even try a few on for size and fit in the store if needed.

Dogs usually slip harnesses due to the size of fit being incorrect. One of the best dog harnesses is a fleece harness and at the second link below you can see a photo of a Jack Russell very content in a Cosydogs high vis fleece dog harness. Another really good option is to use a fleece dog harness with a front and back ring along with a double-ended training lead attached - impossible for a dog to escape that set-up!

I used to buy short leg harnesses for my Scotties, but I can longer find them. It really isn't the fit, short leg dogs can get out in a minute. Or I guess it would be more accurate to say that a regular harness cannot be fit, so that they can't get out.
