    Yes and no.

At the weight you are at, eating better will probably make you lose weight. For people of a more average weight or who have a lower BMI, they may not lose a lot of weight, if any. You will notice, if you eat like this long enough, that eventually, without exercise, your body and weight loss will plateau.

If you eat 1600 calories a day, you may not be getting enough nutrients. Make sure you are getting the recommended daily allowance of all the food groups. Your needs will be more specific given your age, gender, etc. I suggest looking at www.choosemyplate.gov for more info on that.

Other than that, your calorie needs are based off of your age, fitness level, gender, amount of daily activity, etc. Try Googling your BMR (basal metabolic rate) to determine how many calories a day you burn while not active (as in, on days when you get no exercise). This will tell you how many calories your body needs to sustain itself in a day. Since 3,500 calories is a pound, if you cut your weekly calorie intake by 3,500, you should lose about a pound a week. If that is a little too slow, experts say you can lose up to 2 pounds a week and still be in healthy weight loss (anything over that can over-stress your body, cause issues with skin that cannot shrink as fast as the tissue underneath, and is likely not sustainable - you will probably gain some of it back.) If you want to cut your intake by 3,500 a week, that is about 500 calories a day less that you should consume. This is in comparison to your BMR, which tells you how many calories you need to maintain your current weight. Thus, for example, if your BMR is 1,800 calories a day, you can lose a pound a week by cutting your daily intake to 1,300. Just remember to get in your required nutrients while you're at it, and I don't recommend going below 1,000 calories a day if you're female or 1,200 if you're male.

I highly recommend getting some form of activity in though. It doesn't have to be much, just 20 minutes a day of walking can giving you health benefits. It doesn't even have to be all at one time - you could do 10 to 15 minutes of walking on your lunch break, use the stairs, park your car farther away so you can get more walking in. One of the tricks to successful and permanent weight loss is knowing that all the little things add up (both good and bad - I know my midafternoon "snack" of chocolate-covered pretzels used to do me in; that's an extra 200-300 calories I didn't need!)

Good luck on your weight loss!

Experts have got weight loss down to a formula. If you wanna lose weight, calorie intake < calorie expenditure. The rate at which you lose weight is determined by how much more you burn than you consume. The larger the deficit, the quicker your weight loss.

Lucky for you, people burn calories all the time, exercise just speeds up the process. For example, a sedentary 20-year old male who is 6 feet tall and weighs 170lbs would burn around 1900 kcal a day just sitting around. (There are online calculators that can help you with this.)

So yes, you can lose weight just by eating right. Make sure your food is healthy and wholesome. Go for whole grains, they keep you full for longer. Pile on the veggies and fruits. Consume lean meat rather than red meat. Check the ingredients in packaged foods before purchasing them (some products are marketed as healthy when they have an overwhelming amount of preservatives and additives in them). Try to lose a pound a week. Rapid weight loss causes problems.

    All the best! :)

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Life style is often part of the issue. Life style changes now could delay or prevent you from getting diabetes later. Learn here https://tr.im/MHtYq

What you eat is not actually the cause of diabetes, but how you live can be. If you sit on the couch all day, your chances of developing diabetes goes up greatly.

Just do the best you can to not gain weight and to maintain an active life style and that will greatly help reduce some of your risks.

If you eat less, it might, but to have a fit body, you really do need to exercise. However, under the condition of your job which does not allow you to exercise then you can try to exercise when you get home, before bed time you can do some sit-up, move yours legs like you are riding a bike on bed, try some push up? whatever you can do for like 15-30 mins a day? Try to be active throughout the day while working would help?
