Holy Moses: Most underrated Metal band?

I know some people familiar with them, but have always felt they should be recognized more as one of the more influential/groundbreaking bands out there. For one, I believe they were one of the first thrash bands formed (1980)...there first demo was also called "Black Metal Masters" which i think was the first time that Black Metal term was used (before Venom). And finally, with

Sabina Classen on vocals, the first harsh vocals from a female.

can't find all the early stuff on youtube, but here are a few

and their album "Finished with the Dogs" is one of the finest thrash albums of the 80s

MQ: What do you think of Holy Moses? do you agree that they should be recognized as one of the groundbreaking bands of the metal genre?

MQ2: What band do you think is underrated?

OK man, I'll try to answer a bit later. Not much time now :D

Yeah, their debut "Queen of Siam" came out in 1986 but they released their first demo "Black Metal Masters" back in 1980 making them one of the first Thrash bands out there. Setting the stage for German Teutonic thrash is no small feat. And of course Sabina was a huge breakthrough as far as female harsh vox are concerned. I don't really care for the etymology of the term "Black Metal" that'd just be squeezing all the juice out of it.

As for the early stuff - meh, great to hear the beginnings in the making but that was only the start of faaaaaaaar better things to come. Their debut was spectacular Thrash though. What's more interesting is Sabina's unique vocal style in the midst of the Glam laden 80's, funny how the girl was gazillion times more br00tal than those pus$y male vocalists ^^

MA: Yay for groundbreaking. I'm tired of hearing Venom and Mayhem 24/7. As for quality and songwriting - not something I'd listen to regularly. Dang good thrash band, but I guess I wanna move forward from the roots to something more interesting musically. Good ol' thrash though. Really ol' this time ;P

MA2: No idea. Two bands I've been listening to lately are Kvelertak and Ogre ~

Plague of the Planet {love the album cover} ~

    Spiritual Beggars - Demons {every track was awesome} ~

Some really catchy wa infused Mike Amott guitar though. Another serial wa abuser. Oh well, some of it works rather well. Been revisiting some Stoner classics just relaxing a bit so nothing special from me ;D

Actually the whole German thrash metal is underrated. Not only Holy Mooses but also Tankard, Sodom and Exumer. Holy Moses is a good band even though I don't listen to it a lot.

MQ: As I said before they are good and yes they are underrated.

MQ2: Death. They are really underrated and I think they should be on all the top lists of metal together with Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Slayer and Megadeth. Why? Because they fully influenced the whole death metal genre. If there would be no Death, there will be no Cannibal Corpse and other death metal bands that are more famous than Death. So I think that they are underrated and many people don't care about them just because they are death metal.

Wow this band is really good. I have never heard them before. I am not familiar with Thrash at all. But I am really loving this. And the vocals are great! And from female? That is awesome. I really enjoyed both songs. Current of Death was pretty fast. Really nice track.

MQ2: I have to Ditto Dr. Gordon Freeman's choice with Ghost.

I've listened to them a bunch before and I really enjoy them, I think one of the reasons they are so unrecognized is the typical "Heh, woman. They can't be that great *pass*" Have you ever heard of the bands Astarte, or Mythic? Both are all female Black Metal and Blackened Death Metal, respectively. And they're both really good, but most people have no idea who the hell they are.

MQ2: Ghost. Their debut album "Opus Eponymous" that was out in 2010 was insanely criminally overlooked. It is amazing and if you have not heard them before, I strongly urge you to listen to them. You will notice they sound like an evil mix of Black Sabbath's debut, and Blue Oyster Cult with Black Metal influences/Ideals. I know this sounds weird, and it sounds mellow and not too br00tul, but it is extraordinarily epic and the dark atmosphere and lyrics give you a creepy evil vibe like not much else does for me. I'll be seeing them on april 14th with Opeth :D
