Should President Obama use power in Obamacare law to punish Catholic Bishops for rejecting his compromise?

Can he use the power of the Presidency and the controls given to executive branch over every employer in USA to force consequences on Catholic Bishops for publicly resisting his effort to compromise...make example out of them as he imposes more rules from healthcare bill on other sectors of the public?

Even if he never wins support from Catholic Bishops, perhaps he can intimidate other sectors of the public into readily accepting new rules?

Congress gave him this new power unlimited unchecked power over the healthcare policies that every employer and employee must purchase under penalty of federal law....should he go ahead and use it so as to not risk losing it?

    There is no compromise.

A change was proposed by the Obama administraion but not accepted by the U.S. citizens affected. Then the original law was enacted without any change.

Health care is the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairments in humans. Pregnancy is not a disease, illness, injury, or a physical or mental impairment. Abortion and contraception should not be classified as health care.

But the problem here is not to tell people that they cannot have an abortion or contraception (that is another conversation) but religious liberty and forcing people who believe these things to be immoral to provide them and pay for them. This clearly goes against both our Freedoms of Conscience and Religion.

If the Government is allowed to infringe on people's basic human rights in this instance then what basic human right will be next?

"The conscientious scruples of all men should be treated with great delicacy and tenderness; and it is my wish and desire, that the laws may always be extensively accommodated to them."

    -- George Washington

"Conscience is the most sacred of all property."

-- James Madison, Author of the 1st Amendment

In July 2009, President Obama met with Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican. Afterward, Deputy National Security Adviser Denis McDonough said Obama was "very touched by the visit" and wants to find "common ground." The President's "common ground" seems to trash the basic human right of Freedom of Religion and the U.S. Constitution's 1st Amendment. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/International/story...

Who cares? The universities all thanked Obama for the compromise, the bishops speaking out have always been to the right but parishioners know this is not a big deal.

When Kerry ran against Bush, a pastor gave a public sermon urging people to vote against the war. The IRS under the Bush administration attempted to rescind the church's tax exempt status. THAT is an attack on religion that Obama should pursue - if he is as petty as the GOP was, that is.

Give him a second term and we will see the reach of his power. Already the schools are dictating what our kids can eat, how much they can weigh, and the power to punish the parents that they feel. Are wrong. He has already stated that he wants to raise more taxes on the rich but the ones proposed, are directed at the middle class.

Obamacare is unconstitutional to begin with.

Singling out a single religion to harass is also unconstitutional making your anti-Catholic rant both moot and specious.

    Punish that one Sparky.

Catholic bishops hide child molesters and have no place in politics. Rome is in Italy.

Catholics have no right to tell people how to live. many of their teachings do not follow the Bible. they make up their rules. Viagra seems to be a good drug to them.

They have complete freedom in their church.

Their hospital here is the worst in the state and steals Gov money to NOT employ any doctors. they are a criminal organization

No, since Obama-care is unconstitutional in the first place.

In the second place - his so-called compromise was nothing of the sort. It was just the same mandate in different language.

In the third place - he is trying to walk all over freedom of religion, which isn't too surprising since he tends to disregard anything he doesn't agree with or doesn't agree with him.

Bishops ruled the earth in mid-evil times. Obama is no more than a pop corn fart in history.
