paste a picture into Word and be able to move the left side inwards without changing the margins?
I have tried to paste a picture into Word document, and adjust the position of the image. It will let me move the bottom and right side of the image, but the left and top stay locked to the far left corner of the page. Why does it do this and how do I fix it?

You don't say what version of Word that you are using so I think from your description that it must be prior to Word 2007.
When you insert a picture, the default property is "inline". This severely restricts the movement of the picture. Right click on the picture and choose Word Wrapping if that is available or if it isn't, choose Properties. Under one of the tabs, which I believe is called Alignment, is a list of various options for word wrapping around the picture. Choose Tight or Square.....anything but Inline. You should be able to move the picture around as you wish.

One option is to change the text wrapping to Top and Bottom, for example, and you can move the photo from side to side.
