    x--------p(x)

    -2 ----- 1/3

    -1 ------4/27

    0 ------1/27

    1 ------4/27

    2--------1/3

    sum of p(x) = 1

Therefore, p(x) is a probability function

    your function is p(x) = (|x|+1)^2 / 27

exponent is 2 ; you divide everything by 27

The answer does not prove that p(x) is a probability function.

    x p(x)

    -2 0.333333333

    -1 0.148148148

    0 0.037037037

    1 0.148148148

    2 0.333333333

    sum of p(x) = 1
