Did you gain more weight with your second baby?

While pregnant with my daughter i gained a total of 67 pounds. i had severe preeclapsia with her & was induced at 36 weeks. She weighed 6lbs 4oz. Now i am pregnant with a little boy...i am 24 weeks & have only gained 9 pounds. My MIL seems to think that this baby will be around 8-9 lbs since her kids were over 9.5. My husband was 9.12 but i dont see how my second baby can weigh so much more than my first...is this possible? Also i am worried about my weight gain this go round. I havent gained alot at all, but its very obvious that im pregnant, i have a huge belly! I dont want to gain alot of weight with this baby, but at the same time i feel bad for not gaining more by now....

Iam currently 27 weeks. I am gaining much less weight this time, when I was 27 weeks with my first, I had already gained 25 pounds and with this one, I have gained 16, I also started at a lower weight. I am making better food choices this time around:) which it sounds like you may be as well.

As long as you are eating healthy and not restricting calories, you are fine.

If you Dr isn't worried, than you shouldn't be either.

With my first i gained 27 pounds and delivered her at 40 + 6 weeks. She was 8.4. With my son i gained around 32 pounds and delivered him at 40 + 6 also. He was 9.1. I am 37 + 1 with baby number three (another boy) and so far i have gained around 45 pounds. So in my case yes i do seem to gain more every time. However i cannot figure out why i have gained so much with this one. My eating habits are the same so the only thing i can figure is that i am retaining more water.

    Anyways congrats and happy mothering!

Nine pounds at this point is perfectly fine, most weight gained during pregnancy should be in the third trimester anyways.

My weight gain was absurd with my pregnancies, first baby I gained 50 lbs, second baby I gained 25 lbs. (but she was born at 33 weeks) and third pregnancy I gained about 60-70 lbs. Luckily I lost it all!

67 pounds is a lot of weight to gain. I would definitely try to not gain that much this time although I know that can be hard to do. I gained between 44-46 pounds with all four of my babies.

I was exactly the same as you. I gained a huge amount of weight with my first born and he was 6lbs 4oz too. I gained hardly any weight with my daughter and she weighed 8lbs. After I had my son, my weight and measurements went right back to what they were before I got pregnant but after having my daughter I kept the extra weight and my breast size went from a 36c to a 36dd.
