If my first baby was 6lbs. 4oz is it possible for my 2nd baby to be over 8lbs?

With my daughter i gained 67 pounds, had severe preeclampsia & was induced at 36 weeks. She weighed 6lbs 4oz. Im pregnant with a boy & my mother in law & husband seem to think that this baby is going to be over 8lbs!! Is this even possible since my 1st baby was so small? I know she was a month early, but i just dont see this baby being that big! Maybe a 7lb baby but i dont see how he could be over 7... What do you think?

Update:

My husband was 9lbs 12 oz. Ive heard that boy babies usually weight more, but not that much more, right?

yes it's possible... my daughter was 7lbs 5oz when she was born at 40 weeks + 2 days... My son was born at 37 weeks weighing 6lbs 8oz... I am now 38 weeks pregnant with another son and my doctor said this one is going to be my "football player".. They did an ultrasound at 36 weeks and estimated that he's already weighing at least 7lbs 9oz.. Plus I am measuring 3 weeks ahead.. So, we'll see.. I'm being induced next thursday. :)

Just like NOBODY can detect whether your baby is a boy or girl w/o ultrasound nobody can determine the actual weight until birth. Doctors can do ultrasounds and get all the measurements and come up w/ a pretty good idea of the baby's weight. It all just depends, the weight of previous children have nothing to do w/ the weight of a present child. When you go for your last few ultrasounds I would just ask "do you have an idea of how much my baby will weigh at birth" Best of luck.

yes it is possible, the previous weights of your other children have no determining factors to the weight of your next baby. . . if you ask your doctor he/she will be able to give you a pretty close guess to how much this baby will way
