How do you define "most successful" Minimal losses really isn't a way to gauge "best." Sending troops to storm Normandy Beach resulted in huge losses but ultimately helped turn the war.
Victory isn't an indicator either. There are some really good generals out there who ultimately lost. Napoleon Bonaparte being one of them. George Washington came close to losing.
But here is my list of the top 5, that I know of. There may obviously be more and the list is subjective but here it goes.
