Texas is large enough to have at least 6 different geological regions.

West Texas has mountains and basins, the panhandle is high plains and plateaus, The central plains are East of there, West of the cross timbers, and then into the piney woods of East Texas.

To the South would be the coastal plains before heading back West into the Balcones Escarpment and then Edwards Plateau.

The size allows for the state to be in the South and the West, and the climates are totally different too.
