This is the clear proof of the insanity of the mind virus called religion.

It is abundantly apparent that women within the 3 monotheistic faiths of Judaism,Christianity and Islam are not treated as equal partners in the spirit of love,life and God.

No this God has been formed by men to control the thought of the world.

This God does not exist.

God doesn't care about the sexual obsessions of men and their book of rules called the Torah,Bible or Quran.

In some Islamic countries, Christian girls are snatched off the streets on their way to school and forced to marry older muslim men, and then there are long protracted court cases for the mothers to get their daughters back, and sometimes they don't. So life isn't fair if you live in these countries.

In Jewish law, the only forced to do anything was the rapist.

If a woman was raped and she had no other adequate means of support, the rapist was forced to support her financially. Any money she earned was hers to keep. (In a 'normal' marriage, a wife's earnings went into the communal pot. Yes, it was sexist. It was also some 2700 years ago. Most western nations got rid of similar laws within the last 100-200 years.)

There was no expectation of sex, procreation or anything else. The rapist couldn't divorce her, touch her or get ANYTHING from her.

Households were large and communal. They weren't sharing a tent. She would live amongst the other women in the clan.

And if she had somewhere else to live, she was free to live there. This law was last resort protection for her.

Don't blame the book if other people have abused it.

These kinds of things are the perfect example of when Conservatism goes too far. You do need a degree of Liberal-ness in a nation so people will speak about these things without fear. Back on topic. These horrific things happen because human beings tend to be reactive rather than proactive. It's also the culture, many cultures place the responsibility of rape on the woman who was raped. It's not right but it happens. It will take more than law for these thoughts to change, it will take a changing in the mind of the people!

what in the world does this have to do with christians? the girl and her family and the rapist were all muslims. morocco is a muslim country and the whole thing was done according to moroccan law.

The Bible never teaches that a girl should be forced to marry her rapist. In fact, it teaches that a rapist should be killed. That would make a subsequent marriage very difficult.
