HELP: What can I do when I get intense sugar cravings when I'm trying to lose weight?
Almost everyday I crave something sugary, and I've come to realize that this is a major detriment in my weight loss efforts. I'm only a teenager, so I just eat whatever my mom buys, and she only really buys healthy food, so I end up eating a lot of fruits (apples, oranges, grapefruits, etc), and then a part of me thinks I'm being healthy, when it's not, since I'm going overboard.
And then when I go to a store I binge and buy mint flavored candies (Junior Mints chocolate, peppermint Altoids) and then eat them in one day. It's like, I justify the binge by saying that it's not something I eat everyday. That's how I justify all my binges!
Not only am I trying to lose weight to look better, but I'm also at risk for getting type 2 diabetes (genetics) so I need to be keeping my sugars down, anyways. What can I do? It's like sugar is my major problem. I've been exercising about 30 minutes, 5 times a week, for the past couple of months, but I've only lost 5 pounds! It's really frustrating because I've been trying to lose 60 pounds for the past couple of years but I just haven't been able to. should I increase the exercise? or idk, maybe I should just focus on the binging thing?
Occasionally I'm just tired of the healthy food and I'll just pig out on tea with a lot of sugar (it's pathetic), some "treat" my mom buys (and then she gets mad at me for binging on it), or I'll even spend $15 on my own personal, delivered, pizza (including icing, just to binge on it!) when there's nothing home that I want to eat (since I can't drive anywhere).
please help me! I greatly appreciate it. i want to actually look great for the summer for once, and feel great about my body, and proud of what I've accomplished!
Sugar cravings are worst just before my period, too! It's usually how I can tell when my period is about to come. The binging problem is also bad because it compels me to be sneaky about eating food that could get me in trouble by my parents.. how can I stop myself from giving into this temptation?

When you get cravings, take a walk, talk on the phone, get distracted! Cravings usually only last about 15 minutes.
If they dnt go away, then...
Eat something sugary!
But not sweets.
Get some frozen yogurt or regular yogurt, with some fruit. It's natural sugars, and hopefully that will help, and it's super good for you.

You should increase your exercise. Naturally, you will lose only little weight a a time. Try 3-5min a day. Drink V8 V-Fusion for sweet taste, Nutrament ( A Nestle Nutrition beverage) to replace meals, a post-beverage drink, etc. Its not good to hold back. Eat little candy candy, everyday, and dont go overboard. And dont worry about eating to many fruits. You get most of your water from the food you each and the vitamin and minerals too. If you wanna lose weight, not just stay healthy, you have to do exercises that work your arms, core, thighs, butt, calf, ect. not just cardio. You have to tense your muscles a lil while doing it. Hire a personal trainer. If you buy candy, put it in the cabinet for later. Place a healthy nutitional snakc next to it. Itll push you to make the better choice but you wont always. All sacrifices, no matter how small, are always looked upon by God. Talk to your parents, because them holding you back from eating food you want will just make you eat behind their backs. And a lot more than you should. Let them limit you, but not restrict it. Its a mental thing, you cant stop yourself from giving into these temptations all the time. But you can most. Try hard, work hard, and I wish you the best of luck!
