Your financial aid and assistance will not be based on your gender. Instead, many factors will be considered. First, complete the FAFSA to see what federal aid may be available to you. Second, start looking into private scholarships (this may be where you would find a program specific to male nurses). Use ScholarshipExperts.com or Schoolsoup.com. Next, look into loan forgiveness programs in your state, so you can have any student loan debt paid off for service rendered after graduation. And finally, check into community college and public colleges for programs so you won't be taken to the cleaners by a for-profit school.

If you qualify for the maximum Pell grant ($5,500 a year), the grant will cover all or most of your costs at a community college (associate's degree in nursing), and/or a good chunk of your costs for a bachelor's degree in nursing at a state university. Loans can cover the rest.
