What's it like to be an Air force MTI?

If you have experience as an Air Force MTI can you please provide me some insight as to what it's like? I feel like MTI recruiters are much like AF recruiters in that they only tell you what you WANT to hear. Anyway, I have a 10 and 5 year old, been married for 8 years and have a wonderful support system in my family. But is it wise to become a TI now, how much of my children am I really going to miss out on?

I'm personally not an mti. But I live on (near) lackland. I know many mtis. My husband is an mti.

    Straightup it sucks.

And yes those recruiters lie because the air force is desperate for mtis right now.

You will miss out on more than you can imagine. You'll have an hour (sometimes two) break in the middle of the day for lunch. Leave to work at 5am come home at 10pm. (Of course not every day-but most days)

Being the new ti, you'll get the butch shifts anyway.

Well, you seem older-so you may be high in rank.. which of course will give you a lot of benefits.

I've actually seen an mti that's an e3 here. (If that tells you how desperate they are! -___- )

In between flights you'll have about 2 weeks off before your next flight comes in.. sometimes (not often) you won't have any time off though.

When you are training a flight, you come home mad, and take it out (unintentional of course) on your family, you're always stress-start balding and getting receding hairlines and your wife and kids will miss you.

Its kind of like a prolonged 4 year deployment. You just get to see your family when you're off.

(And then u just want to sleep & eat)
