Is VR4 Engine suitable for economy class Sedan in terms of smoothness and performance?

I dont know about the commercial existence of a VR4, the VR6 is common, but VR4 sounds lame, no need to complex a simple thing as 4 inline.

Or do you talk about the engine in a VR4? (a very different thing), the V6 DOHC 24v Twin Turbo?, performance is good but smoothness and that turbo setup I dont think, you can use a car performance simulator[1] to virtually swap this engine on any car and find out
