If God is love and compassion and God is in control and all knowing why are some aspects of the world so bad?

    ...because you misconstrue 'god'.

    This is one which has caused much debate over the years. It's typically presented as a tetrad, a four-point list of items for discussion. it goes something like this;

    1) God is omnipotent.

    2) God is omniscient.

    3) God is benevolent.

    4) Evil exists.

    Of these four points, we only know for certain that number 4 is true. So, one or more of the first three MUST be untrue; either God can't stop it, God doesn't know about it, or God doesn't care.

    Myself, I prefer to avoid these conundrums and just dispense with the concept of deities altogether.

    God doesn't want to be in control of everything. That's why we have free will. It's our very own free will that have made those aspects of the world so bad.

    Because of the bad stupid choices people make. God gives us free will and the right to choose its up to us to do right from wrong.

    I have lost faith. God has taken the hand off of us. Maybe, we one day can be redeemed.
