What do i do when my dog needs to poop and pee in public?

I want to get a little dog that I can take anywhere. What action do I take when he needs to pee and poop? Lets say this happens while we are sitting at a cafe. What action do I take? Do I just keep puppy pads on me? Cause wouldn't it be hard to clean up pee off cement without quickly laying down a puppy pad?

Update:

Thia is an apartment dog, I have a system for him to potty inside so he won't be outside trained till I own a home.

Update 2:

There are some mean answers on here..I'm obviously not talking about taking the dog inside of stores. I'm not dumb and you guys aren't either. I'm talking about just having my dog all around outside and a puppy stroller cause this dog will be only around 5 pounds. I'm mainly asking what about pee? I can't scoop pee.

Update 3:

Hey Easy, no I do not want a dog for a 'fun accessory' dont pre judge people. I understand the commitment of an animal.

Dogs are not accessories, you can't just take them into stores and restaurants...

Properly house train him before you start taking him out. Teach him to only go on grass.

Also, it's bad to take puppies and dogs with you everywere, especially if you intend to carry them around. It's unhealthy for the dog and can lead to a short life.

Another thing too, small dogs are easily excited and frightend, so taking them to very puclic places all the time puts a lot of stress on them.

  • Here's the deal. Life is not like the movie "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" unless you live in Beverly Hills. Most cafe's will not allow you to take the dog with you. I have beautiful dogs, and one is very well behaved, and I have no place to take them except Petsmart. I feel as if you are wanting the dog just for a fun accessory. They are a huge commitment and even the perfect dog is work. Taking it to go potty is not a big deal. You will not need puppy pads. Just a leash and some grass. They only need to go every few hours so you will take the dog to go potty before you head to the dog cafe' then eat your meal. After that, you take the dog home or to a grassy area for it to potty on...be sure to take little baggies to pick up the poop if there is any. Personally, you do not seem ready for the responsibility of dog ownership from your question. Good Luck!

ADDITIONAL: Apartment dogs need to be walked outdoors as well. It is best for them to get several walks per day. I live in an apartment and walk my dogs at least 4 times per day at about 15 minutes per walk. Twice in the morning before work and twice in the evening. No offense meant just trying to be helpful.

There are similar disposable pads made for the beds of incontinent persons... these are pretty large and I would guess one would buy them at a hospital supply pharmacy. If the dog has an elimination command, it shouldn't be too difficult to train. If the dog doesn't seem to get it (it is very difficult to convince a well housetrained dog that going inside is acceptable and proper), you could add a puppy pee pad on top of the larger pad... the puppy pads are scented to encourage elimination... fade out the puppy pads and just use the human mattress protector pads when the dog has got the idea.

I found your question a few minutes ago when I read your little rant.

1.) Training your dog to go indoors will make it that much more difficult to housebreak properly when you do get your own house. Take the dog out and do it right. Training indoors only teaches the dog to go indoors, you'll be ridiculously lucky if your dog differentiates your "system" from your carpet, trust me.

2.) Puppy pads are about the worst indoor system you can use. Dogs can't differentiate pads from rugs or the carpet. People who train via training pads without following the instructions TO THE LETTER (meaning they are a questionable temporary solution) often report fairly regular indoor "accidents" or all out complete regression and back at square one.

3.) Take the dog out for walks. Take some poop bags with you and some paper towels. Pick up poop with the bag, wipe up any messes with paper towels, toss in nearest garbage can. Thousands of people do it this way, if you clean it up, most people won't be bothered by it.

4.) A 5 lb dog isn't going to tire or fatigue nearly as easily as you think. The dog will handle walking around as much as you do if you don't allow/force it into a semi-sedentary lifestyle (such as using a stroller instead of walking it). A chihuahua can go for hours just like any other dog of any size with a medium to high energy level. With his shorter legs he has to take more strides to keep up with you, so he may tire out after 30-45 minutes of straight exercise, but a little rest will have him up and running again. These dogs aren't as fragile or low energy as people often think they are, and they definitely do not need strollers. Chihuahuas can go for miles if you take care to properly condition your dog to exercise.

Dogs aren't allowed in cafes?!? They aren't in Texas anyway so I have no idea! I'm sure they wouldn't be to happy about having your dog poop and pee in a fricken EATERY. Wouldn't be too appetizing. Just leave him home when you go to cafes and take him on walks every day or something.

    Edit:

Or like Chris said. Make sure he is very good at telling you when he needs to go outside and then take him out..

yes, that goes with all dogs. You should have puppy pads and plastic bags on hand while walking or taking your dog in public. The owner is responsible for the clean up of any feces cause by your animal and in some county's can be charged if not properly cleaned up and disposed of. Also, the owner can be liable for any damages done to personal and public property as a result of feces or urine.

You can't take your puppy out till he's house trained to the point that he will tell you when he needs to go. And then you have to take him away from the cafe to poop n scoop. Then come back.

There are health codes in place so you can't take your little rat dog everywhere. Usually places where they serve food do not allow dogs (except service dogs) because the department of health doesn't let them. Leave your dog at home. It's not a baby, it's a DOG and quite frankly, it has no business being in most places of business.

If you’re thinking you want to start training your dog properly, but aren’t sure how, then you’re in the right place. Learn more http://onlinedogtraining.enle.info/?x3a1

The thing about proper dog training is that the more you know, the more you can use towards training your dog. If you have gotten a new dog or puppy, you should work on training them right away. If they are going to be indoor dogs, you can start crate training them . This prevents bathroom accidents or your items being chewed on. Start off with the right sized crate, so that they have enough room in the crate to move around a bit.

If you are trying to crate train your dog or puppy you must understand that you can not expect them to be able to hold their bladders for extremely long periods. You must provide times for them to go to the bathroom. They don’t want to go in their special place. So it is up to you to take care of them. If they have a accident don’t get mad at them, it wasn’t their fault it was yours.

When teaching your dog discipline, regardless of what training method you use, you should always apply it with speed and consistency. Not correcting your dog for bad behavior every single time, sends him mixed signals that may only make the problem worse. Likewise, not correcting your dog immediately, may make it hard for him to understand why you are punishing him.

You clean up after your dog when it poops. You get a plastic bag, pick itup and toss it in the trash.

As for pee....pee is just pee. You can't pick it up. No, you don't carry pee pads on you. That's just silly.

Dogs pee at light & sign poles, fire hydrants, fences. It's what they do.
