Spending money in Australia?

Hi, I'm taking a tour across Australia from Melbourne to Darwin and I was wondering how much money to take with me for spending money. I'm going to spend three days in Melbourne, join my tour which takes 18 days and then two days in Darwin. About half the meals are provided on the tour, and all the accommodation is paid for, for the whole trip, so I just need a rough estimate for food and souvenirs, and possibly some things to do in Melbourne, Adelaide and Darwin.

Thanks

It greatly depends on what souvenirs you're going to want and where you want to eat. I'd recommend staying away from the touristy food areas if possible because it's generally far more money then it's worth.

I'd suggest you allow for about $500-$1000, but you don't need to bring it all. You can just pay for things with a credit card or withdraw money from a bank machine using your ordinary debit card .
