Do McDonalds' workers wear gloves when they handle the food?
I usually go to the drive thru so I don't have to see the workers handling the food. In the off chance I walk in to the restaurant, I will either turn towards the door or look at the ground while the food is being prepared, because I think if I saw them preparing it, I would either throw up or just throw the food in the garbage. So I'm not really sure if the workers are wearing gloves or not. Could anyone enlighten me on this one? If the workers are not wearing gloves, why the hell aren't they?? Is it demeaning to them to wear gloves? Does it make it more difficult for them to put the meat on the patty? Because I know you all aren't washing your hands properly after you do your yellow and brown showers. At best, you probably just run your hands under the sink, no soap, for a slip second.

Depends on where you live. In certain places it's required by law to wear gloves.
I work at McDonald's in Ottawa, Canada. I wear gloves about half the time I am working in the kitchen and I would say that is true for most of the other workers. Whether you were gloves or not is really not a big deal. The most important thing is that you wash your hands often and well. The problem with gloves is that a lot of the time people don't realize how dirty their hands are (because they can't feel the gloves) and don't change them as often as they should. McDonald's has VERY strict hand washing policies and how you wash your hands, and trust me the managers ensure that people follow them.

When you work for a fast food industry like McDonald's or Burger King, IT IS REQUIRED to wear gloves whenever food is handled. Otherwise, not only is it unsanitary, it is a health code violation as well. I know this because I used to work for McDonald's in Brooklyn, New York and I was always required to wear gloves whenever I had kitchen duty.

I worked at a Wendy's for a little bit in high school, and I gotta say (at least where I worked) we were pretty hygienic. Washed our hands after every time away from our assigned station, or every half hour. Got a few blisters working that job. Fry cooks don't need bother with gloves, since they primarily use scoops and deep fryers for all of their work.
People who make the burgers don't either, but don't freak out! The still to be made burgers are covered in a way that the only contact it makes is with the grill to the bun to the customer.

They make the food just like you would.
and sadly yes, that is the case. Some health deparments don't requre gloves and when I worked for them they did that all the time. mostly the mexican workers. The white ones washed them longer.

I had a discussion with my manager once about gloves. Actually it is not required to have gloves, as long as your hands are being washed frequently (and yes employees do wash their hands properly).
And actually yes it is more difficult to work with those gloves on, it restricts your hands and makes you work slower.
At my store employees are required to wash their hands with soap at the sink in the kitchen so that it can be confirmed that they washed their hands.

Ooooo look, I'm wearing them blue gloves - I'm Mr. No-bacteria!!! I can play with raw chicken, out-of-date fish, and a healthy portion of the Ebola virus and you will still be protected because I'm wearing them blue rubber food-regulation grade gloves. Do me a favour......
It don't matter if you wear gloves or not whilst preparing food, them virus and bacteria will still be there.
