    cuz they all stayed in "sam"oa.....

    I'm just saying - chart the course....

    @bee...

    to my chagrin, I don't know.....although there is some old olmecian myth of a people that were so known for following the wrong course that a small rodent type animal was named after them....you guessed it - the lemming. (seriously - I jest!) when life gives you lemuels you just make lemuelaide. (I don't really know what's wrong w/me today. my daughter told me this am that I 'really need supervision'....)

    All we know is that the children of Sam were numbered with the children of Nephi. Reason unknown. There were Lamanites, Lemuelites, Jacobites, Josephites, and Nephites, but no Samites.

    Jacob and Joseph were consecrated by Nephi, but what about Sam? We can only guess, there just isn't any information given.

    For whatever reason, Sam and his descendants were swallowed up with the descendants of Nephi. They mention Zoramites, Jacobites and Josephites but do not mention Samites. I have wondered about that as well but poor Sam lost his identity to his younger brother. I sometimes think that Hyrum Smith was sort of like Sam, being overshadowed by your more famous younger brother. Hyrum was faithful in all things as was Sam. Hyrum followed and supported his younger brother, as did Sam. Sam doesn't get as much credit as he probably deserves.

    Good question.

    Intermarriage was the reason in all likelihood. It wouldn't take long.

    I suspect the Sam-anthas (female descendants of Sam) were pretty good looking. And the male descendants of Nephi no doubt took the commandment to be fruitful and multiply seriously.

    Sam was just a minor character who followd along after his brother- he made no problems nor great independant decisions- history is seldom made by followers but by trailblazers,, JK Maybe this will help

    Maybe it had to do with the blessing that Lehi gave at his deathbed to Sam, where Sam and his posterity were named as joint heirs to the blessings of Nephi and his posterity:

    Nephi 4:11 And after he had made an end of speaking unto them, he spake unto Sam, saying: Blessed art thou, and thy seed; for thou shalt inherit the land like unto thy brother Nephi. And thy seed shall be numbered with his seed; and thou shalt be even like unto thy brother, and thy seed like unto his seed; and thou shalt be blessed in all thy days.
