Has the planet Pluto ever been photographed by the Hubble telescope?

A friend, knowing that I am an ardent fan and supporter of the planet Pluto, gave me a birthday card based on a computer download of what he insists is the planet Pluto.

However the subject of the picture looks suspiciously like a near total lunar eclipse.

This guy is a friend of mine with a background in research and I don't wanna start an argument with him.

Has the planet Pluto been photographed by an Earth orbiting satellite and when was it done and the picture made available to the public?

The photo I received has no credit line.

Yes, but it's not a great image.

    I'll have a look...

Its on the wiki page. Sorry but that's the best we've managed from Earth orbit.

Good news though, in 2015 the New Horizons probe will be passing Pluto and we're hoping for some decent close up images from the flyby.

Dondi, this poem is a treasure, I also have a Hubble DVD, that's breathtaking to view, the 1st time I seen it, i presumed-approximately Van Goghs, "Starry nighttime" and what his suggestions and visions have been and may be had he seen the now we are able to view, colours so dazzling, seems uncertain any artist of any time ought to seize them to their delight. attractive poem
