Heterosexuals: Do you sometimes wish you were born gay or bi?
I am a heterosexual male and sometimes I was thinking how I'd like being gay or bisexual, just so I could have one more 'f you' to throw at the conservative christian establishment. Like a middle finger to archaic, obsolete views. I like the idea of standing up for who you are against oppression.
Sadly I'm stuck being "normal" and "mainstream" :(

No one is born having sex. Only pedophiles believe that someone is born gay or with any sexual preference.
A sexual preference is just that... the person's top choice. You can choose a favorite color and a favorite food as well. Many people will choose to acquire a taste for fine wine even when they don't like the taste at first. A person's taste or preference is very much influenced by culture. In some cultures, eating a spider is a delicacy, while in others, it is considered disgusting.
But as a theory that people choose to become gay as a protest against the status quo, you may be on to something. Most homosexuals are also Atheists, which itself is a protest identity against God.
Atheists claim to be the rational alternative to irrational religion, yet, in a test of logic, the Atheist is proven to have the least logical position.
Given the fact that in an infinite universe, proving anything non-existent is impossible, then logically between an Atheist with proof and God, the Atheist is more likely to not exist.
Religion is a person's understanding of the world/universe and how it works. Given this, the Atheists claim of anti-religion is essentially one of anti-understanding. So it is clear that homosexuals and Atheists alike are scornfully protesting the establishment in an attempt at gaining power and control.
They will claim to be victims of society in the hope that sympathetic people will give them power. And so far, it has been working.

Hmm.....from what I've been learning sexual orientation is most times genetic.....and when one identical twin is gay most times the other is since they have identical genes. Okay that said.....I like who I am so I don't wish to be something different than how I was born. I do have great respect for gay people though. But just because your not gay doesn't mean you still can't stand up for them and "stick it to the conservative christian mainstream" as you put it. You can support people or groups even if your not of the people or group.

Not really, I actually am sort of glad that I was born as part of the majority and won't have to face adversity or judgement in that particular area of my life.
I do feel guilty about it though, because I feel that I don't have any right to have been born any more privileged than other people, especially when I see how being gay in a judgmental society affects people close to me.
Also, it's not really about making a political statement or being "mainstream". I think that's sort of a really immature way to look at things. It's peoples lives we're talking about here.

No - because I do not believe that sexuality is something innate and present at birth. It if were, wouldn't identical twins *always* be of the same sexual orientation? But, in fact, they often are not (and when one of the twins is homosexual, they *usually* are not of the same sexual orientation).

no.
sexuality is not a weapon.
it does not even define who we really are.
from what I understand every person was once female.
that was my one and only shot.
give me the company of an intelligent woman over a stupid dude any day.
