What order were the Books of the Old Testament Written?

I am not looking for the chronological order (the time in which the events took place) but rather the order in which the books were actually written. If I am correct it should start out with the book of Job. Help please!

It's very unlikely to start with Job! This is a relatively late work dating from well after the restoration of the Second Temple.

But your question is hard to answer, because most of the books of the OT are hybrids of multiple earlier sources, collated and edited in several stages. In their present form, almost all date from after the reurn from Exile c. 500BCE. It is often thought that one of the earliest relatively-complete books of the OT is the Book of Deuteronomy, which may date from around the Hezekian reforms of the 7th century BC. But some parts of the Torah are unquestionably older than this, with some hymns possibly dating back as far as the beginning of the first millennimum BC.

So your question is actually a very complicated one, and hard to answer. Biblical scholars disagree among themselves about the age of different passages and how early traditions contained in the Hebrew scriptures might be.

It is generally accepted that Moses wrote the book of Job so yes, if the bible were in chronological order (which it is not*) then Job would be in the first five books with Genesis through to Deuteronomy.

    Kings would be with Jeremiah

Proverbs and mosts of the Psalms would be with Kings

    Chronicles would be after Daniel

Matthew would be the first gospel

And the bible would end with the letters & the gospel of John.

*Thank goodness because if Job was first you'd have the story of an oriental on earth before the creation of the planet.

Most were written about 500 BC by the captives in Babylon. They wrote the Torah, and most of the other books. The book of Job however was probably written in 3,000 BC by some early monotheists.

the 1st six books of the old testomony have been fabrications of non secular leaders around the seventh or eighth century BCE. Moses in no way existed, however a number of his memories may be based on in the previous memories of people interior the section. There must be some grains of fact in there, yet maximum of it replaced into invented instant.

Most weren't written as books. They were compiled from a large store of old Hebrew tales. The dates of origin are all over the place.

They were compiled from scrolls dictated by God,, and why should it start with Job ?

Did he create the world and everything in it ? No ? Then it has started exactly where God wanted it to start...at the beginning.

Source(s): From Genesis to Revelation...the infallible Word of God..
