Honey, the moon goes through the same phases no matter where on Earth you live, so relax about that, ok?

The moon moves about 13 degrees eastward in the sky per day, as it orbits around the earth. You can type moon phases in your browser and find the phases, but I can give you the basic dates and phases here.

I always told my astronomy classes to remember that the moon spells the word "DOC" as it goes through it's phases, meaning that a waxing quarter moon is shaped like a D, the full moon is a O, and the waning crescent is the C.

Here are the basic phases for the moon last month and this month:

    Full moon, 2/7/12

    Last quarter, 2/14/12

    New moon 2/21/12

    First quarter 3/1/12

    Full moon 3/8/12

    Last quarter 3/15/12

    New moon 3/22/12

    First quarter 3/30/12

This doesn't take in waxing crescents and gibbous moon phases and waning crescents and gibbous phases, but you can see that from one quarter phase to another, it takes about 7 days. For example, the moon was full on February 7, in Last quarter (waning) on Feb 14th, etc.

Pop lunar phases 2012 in your browser and you should get tables to give you each phase on a given day.

Where you live doesn't matter for phases. Height of the moon above the horizon, yes, but phases are the same for someone in ND as they are for someone in Australia.

Good luck; I hope I helped!

Ask the teacher for an extension and do it this month. If you try to cheat by copying information from the internet, you'll get caught because the teacher will see you "observed" on nights that were cloudy!
