"Why is the British Government keeping its backbone of normal people poor and down?"

Because they can. Or, more to the point, because if they didn't they wouldn't get elected. The British electorate is defeated and apathetic. Too many of us believe what we read in the tabloids. We vote for whoever we're told to by the Murdoch press.

The only way to get elected is to get the Murdoch press on-side. To get the Murdoch press on-side, you must screw the poorest & favour the rich. Tony Blair realised that, his government implemented policies that made Thatcher seem almost Marxist - they got 3x terms in parliament with majority governments by doing so.

Don't believe me? Take a look at the approval ratings of each of the 3 main parties, and consider which parties' policies are best for looking after the interests of the British public vs the super-rich. Yes, Rupert Murdoch took a bit of a knock recently with the phone-hacking scandal - but given that his empire have managed to relaunch the NOTW (albeit under a different name) with barely a whimper of discontent - I think we can safely assume that his organisation still wields a hell of a lot of political power in this country. Take a look too, at how many independent candidates (ie people who put themselves forward out of a desire to serve their community) are successful in general elections, as opposed to the dross we have in parliament now.

When the backbone of normal people actually starts to question what the government is doing, starts to vote according to policies instead of tribal loyalty, THAT is when we will have a government that does not keep us down.

Until then, we'll just be left with a choice of whether we'd rather be screwed by somebody in a red rosette or a blue one.

The Tories have always been a party that looks after the wealthy and sod the rest. Cameron lied through his teeth to convince the gullible that they had changed, they haven't and never will. The big kick in the teeth for the electorate was the Libdems turning into Tory whipping boys. Many who voted for the Libdems believed they would be able to hold the Tories back from doing their worst, unfortunately they decided to dump all their principles for the pretence of a bit of power. Basically they have no power as they know they will be annihilated at the next election and are therefore going to ensure they at least stay in power until 2015, now matter how much damage is done and how much hurt the people of this country have to go through. Not to worry, 2015 may seem a long way off, but it will arrive and when it does it will be pay back time for this disgusting, spiteful, vile Tory led coalition. All Labour really have to do at the next election is playback Cameron and Clegg making all their promises about the NHS, tuition fees, winter fuel allowance, VAT, etc, etc, and neither the Tories or the Libdems will have a leg to stand on. There is also the fact that they have just pi/ssed off around 5 million pensioners in this country, not a good idea if you want to get re-elected.

It is what the conservatives do, a look at our political history proves that, It is Thatcher rule all over again. If the poor are in ever deeper financial problems they will take jobs for lower pay, work longer hours, put up with tougher, unfair even unsafe working conditions. The only thing that really matters to the conservatives is profit for those who have, those who have not, do not matter.

People are being expected to work more years, when there are fewer jobs, and it is their fault if they cannot find one, they are lazy. The unemployed are being penalised if they dare to rent accommodation with a spare bedroom. Those who want a decent education unless they have wealthy parents are going to have debts the size of a mortgage. The NHS is going to be run even more than now on profit lines, when we all saw what happened when they handed the cleaning services out for private tender etc. etc. etc.

No doubt if they could they would bring back the workhouses and abolish the NHS, then we would die when we get too sick to work and not live long enough to draw our pensions.

  • It's the Tory policy to make the poor poorer and the rich richer it was the same in the Maggie Thatcher regime, their next move is to privatise the National Health System and anything else they can think of.

But don't worry we have only another few years of the Tory rule and by that time this country will be in such a sorry state you probable couldn't care less.

    Because the Tories are c*nts.

*Above answer - that is because "foreigners" are willing to work the minimum wage jobs/long hours our young people think they are too good for

It isn't ,nobody hands out more in benefits than the uk,problem is too much money goes to foreigners and the ordinary people are at the back of the queue

Because the government are the slaves of the super rich and global capitalists who control our economy. However, hopefully, one day soon, the ordinary people will realise how they have been shafted, and revolution will occur.
