When did U.S. oil consumption exceed our 'Production' of domestic crude?

...this time I said "Production" instead of "Supply"

even though I don't think that should have mattered that much since Supply is usually based on Production.

looking at the Graph you provided it sure "Looks" like 'production' might have been enough to exceed 'demand' in the early 1050's !

    Consumption has always exceeded our production; we've always imported some in addition to what we've produced.

    If you mean, when did importation of oil exceed domestic production of oil, it was in the early 1990's:

    Lack of drilling plain an simple if for no other reason to create more jobs an tax revenue but BHO does not want fossil fuel jobs.
