So the definition of being a "plastic fan" is now being unhappy with 7 years of failure?
Yes, we are on a good run..... but what trophy do we have to show for it?
Please explain to me how wanting the best for your club makes you a "plastic fan"
That question was asked when we had just been knocked out of the FA Cup and virtually knocked out of the Champions League meaning a 7th successive trophy-less season for Arsenal.
Up until this season i have never questioned Arsene Wenger.
But how long can we last like this? Same old routine every season, in Autumn we are optimistic, in November/December we are fighting for all 4 trophies.... then in February/March we are out of everything and by June we return to being optimistic.
That has been the cycle for the past 7 years.
Is the definition of a plastic fan really a person who isn't happy with the fact that their current manager has managed to bring their club from champions and champions league contenders.... to just happy to finish top four each season with no progression.

You are a glory hunting fan. Simple as that.I never supported Arsenal for the trophies.I love Arsenal for the manner in which they play football.Entertainment all around. If we get trophies playing adventurous football ,its a bonus!
All I know is Wenger loves Arsenal more than you and me.He knows when its time to leave Arsenal. If he thinks he is causing harm to Arsenal's progress, he will quit.
You are totally wrong on Arsenal's progess over the last 7 years.Arsenal have been the unluckiest team over the last 5 years in terms of injuries.
You have to consider the fact the club is being financially responsible unlike other clubs. That is why all the big clubs are complaning of overspending and a FFP rule is being implemented in the near future.
What were Arsenal before Wenger came ? A mediocre club with no recognition in Europe/worldwide.Now ? We are in the top tier.We have not been doing bad at all in the last 7 years.I don't rate the season based on trophies won. We have been competing against all odds.We played with a budget close to Eveton's .Moyes gets accolades from the media for working in a low budget and finishing 7th! while Wenger gets ripped apart for not winning trophies while working on a similar budget.
Fans need to understand the financial impact caused to a club when they move to new stadium.
Not many understand this and that's the problem.Fortunately we got a sensible CEO in Ivan Gazdis who like Wenger believes in Spend what you earn is the only way for a club to survive at the top level.
Will you take 3 years of success to 30 years of mediocrity (involving relegation)? or 40 years of top flight European football ?
All I want from Arsenal is to give their best with whatever resources we can gather.I want to see games like the last 5 games where we gave 150% effort (especially the newcastle game) where each and every player played their hearts out until the last min of the game.Games like these make me proud and happy.
@ JME aka smart Alek :Wenger is Arsenal's most successful manager. That should be enough to tell you that Arsenal have never been better in their 125 years of their existence.
We have created a benchmark for teams who can't afford rich owners. They emulate our business model.
You fans are just like charlton athletic ones.Went after their most successful manager Alan Curb. and look what happened after they sacked him ? Charlton suffered two relegations in three years

The sunderland fans are fighting amongst themselves too , from what i`ve gathered , if you don't go to every single game your seen as a plastic fan - me , i`m unemployed , and cant afford tickets because the little JSA i get goes on food and bills , but they don't care , im a plastic fan , i`ve supported sunderland for 24 years and never missed one match (radio / telly / internet / occasional match).....
To be honest its pathetic , they`re gloating , trying to look "cool" by telling you just how much they spend on your club each season ........ i don't give a flying fcuk , when we score i scream the house down , i buy the new shirts the day they come out , and like i said , i never miss a game ..... even when i was in Amsterdam , i`m as good a fan as anyone else , and fighting amongst ourselves just drags the club back into the sh*t , all these years of being a yo-yo team , then when we secure ourselves and build a great team , they start fighting their mates over who spends what ----- most probably the same daft tw@s who think they're better than everyone else because they`ve got two cars , let them get on with it , they're the same people who cry and want managers out and the stadium destroyed every time you lose a game ......... be11ends.

i know why hes not won the title with Arsenal since 2003/04
hes got huge cojones and is stubborn - aye, but stubborn in a good courageous 'f**k what you lot think' kind of way.
imo he is a world class manager on par with Fergie, Mourinho, Hiddink, Ancelloti and Guardiola.
in many ways possibly better than Mourinho because hes not managing a club that has uber filthy rich owners throwing money left right centre at him, nor is he managing one of the worlds most lucrative brands (ManchesteR United) that rakes in revenue like whoa ....hes managing a well cultured north london football club and has understood the business objectives there, and the required business model to promote and use for it.
He still manages to keep the club in the top 4 without breaking the bank when it comes to players in the transfer market and seeks to turn relative unknowns/untried-untested foreign players into world beaters and big names - so he can make profits.
The Arsenal that had Eduardo in it - was imo, going to do it again - i do think that season where he was showcasing skills and goals out of this world - Arsenal were going to win the title again under Wenger, or at least come convincinglyclose to doing it and ending up 2nd.
That injury to him was tragic for them - it was awful that leg break. Taylor wasn't it ??
Eduardo was going to become one of the worlds best and Arsenal were going to win the title imo that season (what fecking season was it ???? 06/07 or 07/08 ???? )
so yeah - hes doing what hes doing cos he knows one day he'll strike gold, sign one or two kids from France/African nation and form a team capable of seriously challenging anybody at the top for the title.
until then - hes making sure each season Arsenal FC make huge profits £££.
I mean 3rd in the league atm - thats pretty good.
EDIT: excellent answer by Karthi, b/a probably. * wipes the tears away from KArthis eyes with an andres tissue * poor little child, got realy emotional lol

Im not a plastic fan, and to be honest I don't think you're a plastic fan unless you change to a club which always wins, but Arsenal fans are one of the most loyal fans(behind the Hammers) of fans. Keep Believing.

Tell him either to leave or to refrain from voicing how he "doesn't love you anymore." Why say that if not to follow it up with action. That's ambivalent! Tell him to be "unhappy" if he wants to be, but to "shut up" about it! You don't need to hear that. If he wants to stay for the kids, fine. Stay, but shut up. You can also ask him what you can do to make him "happy".

I don't think people who support a club who's motto is "Victory though Harmony" should be squabbling like this.Though I have to admit people moaning, instead of supporting their club when they're going through tough times is very annoying.

Oisin, I've said it before ... you are the epitome of an Arsenal fan.
You only want the best for your club, and you have faithfully and patiently hung in there for the past seven (7) years ..... only to come up empty again !
You have earned the right to ask the questions ... I wish that you would be given the honest answers.
Best of luck,
Cheers.
