Motor swap on a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

It will swap in but it's going to be a major pain. Do yourself a huge favor and plop another 4.0 in there. If you want more power and budget allows Golen Engine Service and ATK both build a stroker version of the 4.0 with around 300hp. You'll spend less money going that route than you will if you attempt the 5.2 swap.

With the right amount of money YES!, if you think it is as easy as 1) remove 5.2 engine, 2) install 5.2 engine, no it wont, it will not even start up with your current electronic management.

You can use a car performance simulator[1] to virtually swap the 5.2 and see how your Cherokee will perform with that engine and decide if worth or not

You will need lots of money to do that you would have to swap the whole wiring harness, engine management unit, the engine mounts, torque converter, and many other things itl be a lot cheaper to just get another 4.0 and put a couple mods on it those 4.0s have power to spear and with a small amount of money they can be monsters without having to change anything else in your jeep

Absolutely not a good idea you will definately waste more money doing that then just getting a rebuild. And if you were going for more power just get a preformance chip and get some addons, there are many things you can do to boost preformance rather then getting a bigger engine
