I'm thinking of starting a rough gluten free diet, what foods should I generaly avoid?

Also what should I eat instead. + some good gluten free snack ideas if you have any

:)

Update:

I already play football(soccer) and tennis every week plus working out so my fitness is sorted, i just want loose directions on the gluten free food thing, because apparently it can give you some extra stamina/ explosiveness

In general you are avoiding wheat, barley and rye. This means no bread, pasta, noodles, pizza, pies, soy sauce, beer, cakes etc + you need to check all labels for sources of hidden gluten. There are also many foods that have wheat as a filler e.g. ready meals, potato chips and so on.

Good gluten free snacks include fruit, nuts, rice cakes, cheese.

There is no real evidence that a gluten free diet will increase your fitness if you don't have a gluten intolerance or coeliac disease, but if you do it will make a big difference to your well being.

Unless you have a gluten intolerance , there's really not much benefit to a gluten free diet unless it helps you feel better in you healthy meal choices and plans. But here's a site that has tons of gluten free recipes and diet tricks.
