What should I do to lose weight?

I am working out and starting a diet, but I just was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks that could also help. Ex: drinking a lot of water, or something like that

    eat lots of veggies and protien. drink a lot of water! watch what you eat! only consume 2,000 calories a day. eat 8 tiny meals a day instead of the reg 3 big meals.
