Need help with Dell Inspiron?

So, I have a dell inspiron laptop, which I got about 2 years ago. just a month ago, it showed a sign on my battery thing that says "consider replacing a battery", well basically i have ignored that and it worked perfectly fine. YESTERDAY, i turned it on... and it took about 20 minutes just to load the welcome page. I typed my password and everything. when it FINALLY loaded, it made a WHOLE NEW DESKTOP, deleting all my pictures and files. whenever i log on my name, it creates a whole new desk top EVERYTIME, so basically if i wanted to start fresh, i couldnt, because it keeps saying "this is a temporary profile so anything saved will be deleted after logging off". -____- now how can i fix this? i purchased it from best buy. can i still get my files backkk? HELPP WITH STEPS PLEASEEEEEE (:

Update:

ummm... i kinda left something out butttt : whenever im tired and lazy (once or twice) i forced the shut down with the power button...is that bad??? is this why it caused it?

Boot in "safe mode". As it starts up keep tapping F8. Highlight "safe mode" and press enter. See if your Dell Inspiron laptop works normal.

If it runs normal now, do the following maintenance and tune up:

Scan with a antivirus program & spyware/malware program to see if there is any unwanted programs. Remove the unnecessary programs and applications.

DEFRAG C: & CHKDSK C: ; use external harddrive for all future downloads.

Clean up registry problems using Reginout registry manager.

If problem persists, as a last resort you might need to fdisk, reformat your Dell Inspiron laptop hard disk clean and reinstall OS. But before doing so, try the steps above first.

Also, try remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Dell Inspiron laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop. This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset. Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord and turn your laptop on.

Check if it's something to do with your laptop power cord or power source problem. Insufficient power might cause some of those issues as well. Take the battery out and power on your Dell Inspiron laptop with the charger only.

---Make sure your laptop power jack and charger plug tip are securely connected. If power jack is loose you can find laptop power jack on ebay. However, fixing and soldering the power jack requires professional skill.

---Always, the green/blue LED on charger needs to be constantly on. If not, replace the defective charger. Since battery/ ac adapter has its own lifespan and does not last forever, to help you save up some, you can consider getting a Dell Inspiron charger under lifetime warranty from store like topmic.com

    Wish the Best.

Not sure about what to do here, but I have a Dell Inspiron M5030 and I use that power button whenever there is a problem, so that is not your troublemaker. It sounds like you might have some sort of virus, so NOW would be a good time to use an antivirus or spyware program to run a full scan of your computer. And yes, you should replace the battery. It's supposed to be done every 1-2 years.

you have got already got 4 gig in it. A 32 bit working sytem will tutor between 3 and 3.5 gb once you have 4 put in. It sounds atypical to me which you will possibly have a 1gig and a 2gig stick, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it is very achievable thats what you have. Did you purchase it new? If it won't void the guaranty(no tape on the door) Open it up and look.
