How much soil do you need to grow sweet corn?

I dont have a yard and i thought i could use 5 gallon buckets to plant sweet corn in. Will that work?

    Interesting idea!

    You can try...but don't be surprised if the results aren't all that great.

    Plant two seeds per bucket about 8" apart.

    The more buckets the more better b/c the pollination will be better.

    You'll have to participate in the pollination phase to have any chance of getting any ears.

    A few days after the silk appears...gently tap the bottom of the stalks which will cause the pollen in the tassels to fall onto the silk. Do this early in the AM before there's any wind. Also be sure to move slowly about the buckets so as not to create any swirls or air currents that may cause the pollen to float away.

    Twenty-one days later you'll have corn-on-the-cob.

    It will work, but only have 2 corn plants max.
