Elvis was born January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi.
When he was a boy, he went shopping with his mother. He saw a BB gun and wanted her to buy it for him. She instead bought him a guitar because she said that he couldn't kill anyone with a musical instrument.
HIs move from Tupelo, Mississipi to Memphis, Tennessee as a young boy had a great influence on his music, especially Beale Street which is considered the home of the Blues.
One of the most notable people Elvis had an impact on were four young men from Liverpool, England who would come to be known as The Beatles.

I am a big fan but I don't think i'm a crazed fan.
Tupelo, Mississippi on the 8th of January 1935
He got a guitar for his 9th or 10th birthday, and taught himself with the help of hearing the blues in Shake Rag, Tupelo.
There was no one event.
The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Jackie Wilson, Isaac Hayes, The Rolling Stones. Everyone who came after him, directly or indirectly.
