1 AnswerBirds9 years agoBudgie Training: What comes next?
Hi ! I started to train them to go on my finger in the door with millet, and now they don't have to see the millet to know they are getting some, they just hop on my finger! I tried the stick training technique but they weren't motivated enough...they go crazy for millet! the one day I guess I pushed one of them just a little to far from their comfort zone because she was eating millet, and I was going to make her climb to the top of her cage to get it because she was facing my hand in the door by hanging up side down and she flew out (wings clipped but still startled me a little) and we had to get her back in, I gave her some millet apologizing for the miss hap, I tried ending it on a positive note that way, and today shes making greater progress... also, that one day, she got a little exercise.. :) I was wondering, what should I do next with out pushing the birds to far out of their comfort zone? I would like to get to the point to taking them out of the cage without them fluttering off, can you give me some advice?

3 AnswersBirds9 years ago3 budgies need to be trained?
I have 3 budgies, I'm going to get their wings clipped soon, they are a little over 4 months and I got them from an owner who did not seem to knowledgeable about them, but they are only used to a seed diet I mixed in some pellets though, and they are only using the highest perch because they only had 2 perches to begin with in their original cage and they were up really high... they don't eat much veggies and they don't go near my hand, and they (I hope) play fight all the time, but don't use any toys.. and they are only used to their food dish being high up..when they're wings get clipped, how do you suggest I should train them? like, get them to trust me? can you give me a step by step instruction please..?

2 AnswersRap and Hip-Hop9 years agobudgie preening and napping?
I know budgies (10+) < in flocks of that much, I know that they all preen and go to sleep at the same time! its cute, when I was at the pet store yesterday visiting my Birdie friend (I visit him every week, hes a green cheek conure, I give him head rubs!) and under neath the bigger birds, which is that one and a quaker, under neath is the budgies and I seen them from the moment they were just waking up and began preening, but what I'm getting at is, is this world wide? Or all different times for all different flocks? or do all budgies in the world do it at the exact same time?
1 AnswerBirds9 years agowhy did I stumble across a blue jay as a pet? or should I say, it stumbled apon me?
(2 years or so ago) a blue jay flew under my car port and got to know me and my mom very well, he flew onto our heads, shoved raspberries and peanuts in our ears... had good times with him, he went through molting, and he got a girlfriend, she came close to us, but no hand contact. but for some reason, this blue jay (bluey - blue-E) he never came back that summer.. :( I miss him... anyone know why he went away from us, AND came to us in the first place? And how can I develop this relationship with another bird?

2 AnswersBirds9 years agocould a finch be caged with a budgie?
I like to have birds to play with, and one of my other family members likes birds to watch, although, her choice was only made as a statement, not that she actually was making it clear that she wanted one.. we don't have these birds yet, but in August, I'm going to get a budgie, and I was wondering, since she likes canaries and finches is it okay to cage either of them with budgies?
