Cockatiels are easier to tame, they need different food and they are bigger. Budgies can be easy to tame if you put time and effort into it. Don't let them persuade you, if you want a budgie, get a budgie. I have 2 budgies and I'm looking into getting a cockatiel. I love my budgies and I will always have budgies, so if you want a budgie, go for it!
And the name of 'the other cockatiel' that your saying you don't want, the big one with white feathers, that's called a Cockatoo

I haven't a lot of experience with cockatiels, but I did own two cockatoos and my eldest brother has 3 budgerigars. The cockatoos (and friends' cockatiels) actually struck me as being more difficult to train, and THEY CHEWED EVERYTHING!... the window panes, the TV, everything. On the other hand, my brother trained his budgies to fly around the house in certain flight patterns to signal when they were hungry, or felt threatened... basically to communicate with him, as well as to perform charming little tricks for company. They were trained very quickly. Being smaller, they are easier to look after. Additionally, they can't cost much to buy or care for, as my brother is terminally ill, and remains at home on doctors' orders, living on a pittance.
If I could go back, I'd have gotten budgies this time 'round.

If you want tame you need to get handreared not avairy bred that most pet shops sell. Aviary bred are almost impossible to tame and keeping them in a cage is cruel. If handreared both are easy to handle. But birds are social and you should also have atleast two. It is creul to keep them on their own. Cockatiels and budgies needs different seed mixes but can eat the same fresh food . Cockatiel do cost a little bit more. Birds are mess and noise so you need to think about that before getting them. If keep in a cage you need to get the biggest you can find and afford. They also need daily sfae free flight to keep them in health body and mind. Cockatiels are not more prone to health issue that budgies. S which ever sort you decide make sure they are handreared .

properly, really, i ought to %. cockatiels over budgies. at the initiating, the lifespan. I really have previously owned 2 budgies which died interior weeks, and that i now have a cockatiel that is been with me for 7 years old and nevertheless going reliable! Budgies tend to be shy, yet cockatiels are very affectionate! They sing properly and may also be educated to talk! in case you have become a cockatiel, make sure that you feed him properly. Pellets, not seeds. Seeds are junk nutrition for birds. ;) also on your poultry's food plan you need to contain fruit (if he/she will eat it), vegetables (like kale, carrot, celery, corn), and an occasional manage (seeds, spray millet, or different treats you need to purchase at a poultry shop.) Kaytee Harvest Fest is what I feed my cockatiel. wish this facilitates!
