Ok so I dropped my Android phone in SPRITE. I've heard of phones that were dropped in water being saved...?

I've heard of phones that were dropped in water being saved by sticking them in a bag of rice which sucks the water out of them and working again properly. I did this with mine and no such luck, it powers on and everything but the touch screen wont touch! I'm thinking that maybe the sugar in the sprite has dried between two contacts connecting them when they should not be (sugar is conductive, right?) So that maybe I should dunk my phone in water, try to get the sprite and sugars out of the phone, and then stick my phone in rice and to dry it out. It's not like it works anyways or it could make it worse? Anyone been in this situation and gotten the phone to work?

Don't dunk it in water, first remove the battery and then dunk it in rubbing alcohol. The higher the concentration the better (preferably 95%) but the kind you find in a drug store is fine. The alcohol will dissolve the sugar left over and push any water still left out of your device, it also doesn't rust the metal inside and leaves no residue. Then remove the device after letting it soak for a while, making sure to jiggle it around in the alcohol to get in really in there, and let dry for 2 hours before trying to turn it on.
