  • Ok so I dropped my Android phone in SPRITE. I've heard of phones that were dropped in water being saved...?

I've heard of phones that were dropped in water being saved by sticking them in a bag of rice which sucks the water out of them and working again properly. I did this with mine and no such luck, it powers on and everything but the touch screen wont touch! I'm thinking that maybe the sugar in the sprite has dried between two contacts connecting them when they should not be (sugar is conductive, right?) So that maybe I should dunk my phone in water, try to get the sprite and sugars out of the phone, and then stick my phone in rice and to dry it out. It's not like it works anyways or it could make it worse? Anyone been in this situation and gotten the phone to work?

  • How difficult is it to put in a new alternator on a 2001 chevrolet blazer v6 automatic by yourself?

I've done various maintenance/repair tasks by myself change my own oil, batteries, starter replacement, air filter, water pump, oil pump, etc, but for harder things like a new engine or tranny I'd go to a mechanic. Anyone done this truck or similar? You think I'm better off doing it myself or having it done?

  • Which telemarketing job should I pick?

    k. i got hired at 2 jobs today. keep in mind they're both shitty telemarketing gigs. im trying to pick which one is less shitty. the first one is outbound calls, selling golf clubs. it's from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and it pays $8 an hour OR 8% commission, whichever is higher, and I'd be looking at $500-$700 a week I think. At that job the turnover rate is pretty high, if you aren't good enough they fire you. The second one is screening inbound calls for auto warranty salesmen, that way the sales people arent worrying about do not call lists and whatnot, theyre only getting hot leads. it's from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and pays $10 an hour plus $5 for every deal you refer to a salesman that closes, and I'm probably looking at $450-$550 a week. I don't know what the turnover rate is, but I'm assuming it's a lot lower since you don't have to worry about making sales.

    Which would you pick?

  • How much will it cost to fix a "rear end" on a 2001 Blazer?

  • Should I bring a resume to an interview at Sears?

I'm going to interview for a sales position, but my experience is mostly in administrative and clerical work. The sales experience I have I don't really want to show off because it was boiler room type of work, so my resume is mostly feared toward admin/clerical, not relevant to the position at all. Should I just change the "seeking" part from "a position as a data entry clerk or administrative assistant" to "a position in sales", or just not bring one at all since I did like a 45 minute online application thing?

  • What have you found to be the best way to protect a slider phone?

I used to have a samsung sgh-d807 and I loved it, but I broke the lcd. After that I went to a razr, didn't like it too much but it was okay, I found that I often broke the external lcd cover, but that was easily replaceable and the actual lcd never broke. When that razr came time to be replaced, I was looking at newer razrs with better cameras and music players, but I came up on a samsung sgh-d900 for an outrageously small amount of money, so I had to buy it. I have to say, the phone is amazing, but I'm worried about breaking the lcd. Those clear snap on cases for slider phones put resistance on the slide and that wouldn't do for every day use, and i havent seen a different case design that protects the lcd of a slider well. Anyone have a case for a slider phone that they think adequately protects the lcd? And also, I've seen those sticky clear lcd protectors that are custom fit to the screen and I get how they would help it be scratch resistant, but do help it not break too?

  • Help me think of a title for an office worker?

I work at a company in the US selling to US corporations, but we have an exclusive vendor relationship with a Chinese company. At the office of the company in China, there is a Chinese woman who is technically employed by our US company, and her main job is translation, as none of us here speak Chinese. She's fluent in English, Chinese, and Mongolian. She's been working for us for awhile now, and performs tasks beyond translator, for instance she's one of the few at the company who can drive, she is the personal assistant to the CEO, and since she translates, sits in on all board/manager meetings, and occasionally offers her opinion on issues discussed. We would like to come up with an official title for her so we can print good business cards, but we can't think of one that would be appropriate. "Translator" is not enough, "Liaison" is our best idea, but there is a negative sexual connotation, "Mediating Assistant" and "Intramediary" were other's I've thought of. Any better ideas?

  • Help me pick out a new cell phone?

I'm looking for a new phone, definitely needs to play music, have a camera greater than 1 mega pixel but preferably 2 (I do use both of these features extensively). I also need a flip phone, every single "candy bar" I've had ended up with a broken screen and I'm rough on exteriors, so I'd like one without an external caller ID screen. I use GSM carriers, so I'd like one that can be bought on ebay unlocked, and isn't all that expensive of a model. I've been looking but I can't seem to find anything like that, can anyone recommend one?

  • Roulette questions - concerning figuring odds, and table minimums?

Okay, first off a question about odds. What are the odds of a roulette table spinning on black (or red, even, odd, 1-18,19-36) any of those that covers almost half the board, the same one 7 times in a row?

Second question about table minimums. Say the table has a 15 dollar minimum. Does this mean that all my bets on the table must be 15 dollars or more, or all my bets added together must be 15 dollars or more total?

    Thanks

  • How do you find a Jehovah's Witness church?

The only way I can see on their website (watchtower) to get information is by giving them your street address and such. I don't want to get all kinds of publications, so I'm not willing to do that. There's one particular publication that I'm looking for I read a few years back, I'd like another copy of it. Anyone know where to get information like that? I'm in Orange County, California by the way.

  • Windows Vista Build 6000?

I have the Windows Vista build 6000 installed on my computer, and I installed it with a beta CD key, installation went through with no problems, and when it auto activated it went through fine. When I view my system information, it says I have a genuine Windows product, and I am activated. I know that RC1, RC2, and other various beta releases have a built in timebomb and none of them will work after June 1st of next year. But since 6000 is the release to manufacture build, does it also have this timebomb? I'm fairly sure they never distributed it themselves like the other builds, which would make mine a pirated copy I guess, but since it's the final build would it have it in there? Is the timebomb related to them keeping track of your cd key or actual built in software in the previous versions? If it is going to stop working then, do you know of a crack that will get rid of it?

  • Microsoft Access - Excel Linking?

I'm trying to link an Access database to mulitple excel files to have a central location to update naming fields. For instance, I have a column for Part Number, Description, Size, Number in a box, etc. in each of these Excel files, and each Excel file is for a different aspect of cost or sale. They must be in separate Excel files, and an full Access database is not what I'm looking for, but I'd like to link the files to one central location so if a part number changes, or I have packaging info change, I can update it in one place and it will update all of the Excel files. The list is the same for each file, I just can't figure out how to link more than one Excel file into the same table so it will update all of them. Can you tell me how to do this?

  • 7600gs vs. 7600 gt?

A 7600gs with 512mb of ram is about the same price as a 7600gt with 256mb of ram. The ram in the gt is a newer standard and runs twice or more as fast, and the gpu has a higher clock speed. Anyone know how they compare?

  • AGP 4x vs. 8x performance?

If I had two systems set up side by side exactly the same except one motherboard was a slightly later model that supported AGP 8x, and the other only went up to 4x, with an identical card, how noticeable do you think the performance increase with the 8x over the 4x would be?

  • zippo lighter problem?

i have a zippo that takes awhile to light. its not a stupid obvious problem, new wick, wove it in with the cotton real good, cut it at the top of the chimney, flint is just fine, theres fuel in it. it takes many many attempts at sparking before it lights, it sparks every time, i know there's fuel on the wick because if i put a bic to in for half a second, it lights and stays lit, and i can't think what else it could be. anyone have any ideas?

  • Anyone had luck with fuel additives?

I'm in california so smog checks are a little harder here. I had my 84 jimmy tested and although i passed emissions, i failed visual inspections because of an exposed wire, unplugged minor vaccuum tube, and my idle speed rpm was too high. i have all this fixed, but because of the vaccuum hose im afraid my emissions might go higher now that it's plugged in. I don't think it'd be TOO much, but i was nearing the limit for carbon monoxide. the guy doing the check said he didnt think the hose would make it go over when plugged back in, but there is that chance because it most likely will go up. I've tuned up recently, and I'm wondering about fuel additives as a just in case. I've heard conflicting opinions, some people swear by them, some people say they're complete BS. The only time I really noticed a difference was in my old car i used one especially for cleaning out dirty carburetors, which mine was, and there was a minor performance increase. Anyone have any actual good things to say?

  • Instrument panel/Stereo installation lighting problem (84 s-15 jimmy)?

I installed a new radio in my 1984 GMC s-15 jimmy, and now the lights on the instrument panel no longer turn on with the headlights. I'm fairly sure I know the problem, but not the solution. I didn't find a wiring harness at an auto parts store, so I did it with the wires. Anyways, on the old (stock) radio, there was a place for a "LAMP" wire, I had no idea what this was, but I knew the new radio didn't need it so I didn't bother to look into it. I taped over the wire and left it unplugged. I assume this is the problem. I have no idea what I'd hook that into to make my instrument panel light up. If you know this is irrelevent, do you know what else would make the light not come on? Help?
