Most water conditioner of big brands are just fine for what they suppose to do - neutralize chlorine in the tap water.

Prime is probably the best for a new tank. It is more than just a water conditioner, it can detoxify ammonia and nitrite for up to 48 hours. In case of your tank isn't cycled properly or if the cycle has crashed somehow, it can help to minimize the damage done to the fish by ammonia.

There is a list of good water conditioners in this article.

All aquarium products with the name of "water conditioner" have the ability to neutralize chlorine.

Prime is the best conditioner/dechlorinator for a tank, in fact I use it for every water change I do.

Prime is a good water conditioner, and will take care of any chlorine and chloramine in your tap water. This is the MAIN function of any water conditioner, and they all do that. They often claim to do all sorts of other stuff, but that's usually snake oil.

How approximately no longer get the goldfish in any respect. Goldfish do no longer no longer belong in bowls they by no potential have. no longer in simple terms do those monsters advance 8-24+ inches long they produce plenty extra waste then a classic fish that's undesirable combimnation. No fish can stay in a bowl valuable possibly a betta could stay to tell the story regardless of the undeniable fact that it does not be very healthful. So do your self a choose and forget approximately approximately fish in case you do to no longer make the hardship, attempt, and money like human beings do.

Most of the big name conditioners have extra chemicals, such as aloe or other schemes to remove or "trap" heavy metals, these are unnecessary and are there to remove more of your money. I use the Topfin brand, it removes chlorine or chloramine and that's all.. This is the only water conditioner needed for most municipal water supplies. The rest is snake oil.
