What does "preshrunk" cotton (shirts) mean?
Im American. English is my only language but:
I ordered all these t-shirts from different companies. All the t-shirts say preshrunk 100% cotton. I ordered medium and they are HUGE. Remember, these are from different companies..
HUGE size medium. A really fat person could fit them easily. So anyway I was sad that size medium were to me an X-Large. I put them threw the washer and then dryer. I washed on cold and dried on Medium. The result was they had shrunk by 50% and fit me perfectly. Why do they say Preshrunk if it shrunk 50% in the dryer? they must know it will since they start out the size of circus tents.

Cotton is supposed to shrink when you put them in the washer and dryer, but if the tag says "preshrunk" that means the maker already did this process ahead of time so they consumer wouldn't have to worry about sizing up when trying on and purchasing clothing. Sorry! Remember this next time haha. Hope you didn't waste too much on these...!

Yep. I would also guess that it means it won't wash out and become all drab. :p

It means they wont shrink if you wash and dry them, because the company already did that for you.
