Greed.
Let me explain:
Most people marry for love.
Love is a temporary emotion that we feel, and eventually, it goes away, dies out in your body, like a drug. If you don't believe me, look at the rate of divorce in this country.
Greed is a lust for wealth or power. If you fulfill that lust in the right way, you will be rewarded. Look at the rich people. They're plenty satisfied. People who marry rich, well, they're plenty satisfied.
And so, I have explained my answer in terms of marriage as an example.

the love for greed is winning
if every American truly lived the Gospel in his daily life, (without sham of school prayer, using Bible as a weapon, but truly live out christian values), then America would be a paradise on earth.
