How do you cure hives?

I had some for a while, on my arms and legs. How do you cure them, and how long will it take?

Hives are generally a symptom of an allergic reaction to something you've eaten or touched. Antihistamines like diphenhydramine (Benadryl), cetirizine (zyrtec), and loratadine (Claritin) will help the symptoms, but will not cure the hives. To cure them you need to figure out what is causing them. Have you eaten anything new lately and kept eating it? Have you started using a new soap or laundry detergent? If you can't think of anything new to your environment then consider changing your soap or detergent. Do it one at a time so if the hives do clear up, you know what it was that you are allergic to and you can avoid it and things with the same ingredients in the future.
