Life as an Aviation Machinist Mate US Navy?
I am leaving in a month to boot camp for the navy. I am going in as an aviation machinist mate and wanted to know someone's experience's and day to day life of what they got out of the job. I have done my research before hand and know what I am going to expect but wanted someone who has experienced it them-self. Thanks for any feedback.

expect long work hours both in port and out at sea. you'll most likely be in a squadron. aviation rates usually stick with squadrons and that means being attached to a carrier. the work schedule underway is from 0500-1900. they usually spend most of their days on the flight decks and hangar bay working on aircraft. your first year in a squadron, you're most likely going to be in the line shack since you will be brand new. that's pretty much catching jets, sending them out, and cleaning them. give it a year or so til you do your actual rate's job.
