Would a person that focuses on strength and speed believe in internal strikes if they felt it?

Even if the strike was based upon chi?

Obvious evidence for this either way would be if you saw someone get hit by one and then he started believing. It does not necessarily have to be explained in a way that people get it. Just that they start to believe it is possible after they feel the hit.

Update:

In martial arts, it isn't seeing that is believing but feeling.

Update 2:

Watt: That's one of the disadvantages of this format. I can describe things but only feeling is believing. And there are certain things that I could describe concerning internal strikes that make it different from external strikes. The moment someone says "chi", people often immediately think of Dillman and his line. This seems to be the most popular conception, but even they know it's a conception based upon no touch.

many people use chi as a sort of catch all term, but I'm very specific when it comes to using words. They have a specific meaning to me.

Update 3:

Watt: if you're asking me a question, you should send me a message. That really applies for everyone.

Depends entirely upon the effects of the strike. Like I've said before, I believe chi is just oxygen and Tai Chi students have figured out the most efficient methods of breathing. I believe you can hit harder because you have more oxygen in your muscles but I don't believe you can shove that oxygen beyond your punch like some spiritual shock wave.

First I would have to be convinced by being hit by a very old and frail person or a child. Anyone else I have seen develop power even if they are not particularly muscular or strong. You hit someone in the right areas,it doesn't take much to cause pain. I could coach a person off the street for 15 minutes and there punch will hurt you. You can knock a person off there feet gasping for air with a very short punch. Is it chi? No you just have to understand how and where to hit. I could very easily fake chi and make true believers and let them film it or experience it. But the real explanation would change there mind again in a second back to reality.

Sure. If I'm holding a pad and a tai chi master can hit it noticeably harder than a boxer or kyokushin karateka, then I would be impressed and I would try to learn his technique. But I guarantee you that technique has nothing to do with chi, because chi is not real. Internal martial arts, from what I've seen, are all about optimizing body mechanics. If you punch with perfect form and perfect balance, you can generate a lot of power. But at a higher levels, external martial arts also place a huge emphasis on perfect form and body mechanics. So they are different paths to the same end.

No doubt i would believe it if i experienced it...to be tested and assessed ongoing in the future..but I have no clue what this would be like ,Ymir...what is a chi strike..perhaps we have different understanding of chi??

He shows great internal power and rooting technique, he makes the principle of Issen Hisatsu a reality. I don't care if you can bench press 300 lbs or can run several miles in half an hour, if this guys hits you with one of those rooted strikes, you're gonna feel it.

Whats chi and how does it enhance the power of a punch?

Source(s): If they felt it that would be some evidence and emotion to go towards building a new belief. I think you are right but they would have to be the ones to perform it not receive it to understand or feel where the power is coming from.

In what are purely demonstrations, Chi always works. But in every single case of Chi actually being examined under controlled conditions, it's been proven fake. These videos will explain what Chi actually is as well as show that it is not, in fact, real.

Source(s): Studied Kung Fu for 6 years, learned many Chi demonstrations to use myself and can still perform them with or without trying to focus "Chi" into them because they are simply demonstrations and demonstrations only. I believed in it for years, and now I'm fortunate enough to have moved on past the BS.
