    No.

There has never been an Argentinian presence on the islands, and they were uninhabited when Britain took control. They have been inhabited by people from Britain for 200 years.

The fascist government in Argentina is in trouble, and they know that flag waving is a cheap way to drum up support. But, they do not respect the rights of the population on the Falklands, nor the fact that Britain defended them 30 years ago, and will do again.

There have been a number of nationalities who have used the Falklands as a base during whaling and fur trapping expeditions. There were some crews from what is now called Argentina, but at that time what is now a separate country was a Spanish colony, and could not legally lay claim to any land on it's own behalf. This is something the Argentines conveniently forget all the time.

Argentina because 1816 is an self sufficient u . s ., Spain gave us those islands. yet Argentina replace into battling with Chile for the Paragonia whilst the British invaded the Falklands in 1833, i don't understand how numbers are interior the united kingdom yet right that's: sixteen < 33. For an Argentinian the Falklands belong to Argentina, for a British to Britain.

The Falklands Veteran, Simon Weston, was recently on the radio saying that "no Argentine has ever lived there".

Looking at Wikipedia, this is not the case as a Spanish Colony was expelled in 1833, whereas Argentina seems to have an earlier foundation date of 1816, when Independence was declared.

There is also evidence of it being a French Colony, which is why the islands are also called "Les Malouines" by them.

Present-day Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner yesterday stated that the Falklands are only a "few kilometers" away from Argentina. If you count 704 km as being "really close"!

A few Spanish fishers and whalers use to occasionally take refuge on the island while out at sea but no one lived and worked there in a permanent settlement before the British came in the 1800s.
