Where does an alcoholic go when he wants help?

My husband is an alcoholic and has now decided he wants to stop drinking and get help. Here is the problem we have been calling and looking for in house treatment centers. There are alot out there but they either want a lot of cash. or you have to have ins. We have neither, because of his drinking he has lost his job we have no health ins. and are about to now loose our home so we have no money either. Now he wants to get better and we cant find any place that will take him based on our income or lack of. Any ideas?

Update:

**Asno you know nothing about the disease of being an alcoholic that is clear. It is not that simple if it were he would not be an alcoholic in the first place. when you have drank for as long as he has and have a problem with it when you quit you go through with drawls and you can die from them. But thanks for your response but next time try knowing something about what your talking about before you answer.

AA meetings are a great start since rehabs are so expensive. I would also look into Al-Anon meetings for yourself as you have been affected by your husband's disease. Check out the sites below, they might help.

I quit drinking close to 30 years ago with the help of AA. Alcoholics Anonymous. They have a hotline that you can call. Sober men will help him, I promise!

AA you don't "do it yourself"!!!! When I first got sober I lived in a sober house with sober people for free. AA's believe in the philosophy, if you don't give it away you can't keep it....meaning their sobriety.

Find some AA meetings. He can do it himself-its difficult but can be done.

As easy as not buying alcohol.

You dont need to be Green Lantern to use the power of will.
